Here's what's going on in 5-L....
SOCIAL STUDIES: What events led to the American Revolution? Well, we have just learned about two of the major causes: The Boston Massacre and The Boston Tea Party. Of course there are others and we are engaging in many lively discussions as we explore the cause - effect relationships between the events that led to our fight for independence from Great Britain.
MATH: What are the chances we will have math test this week? Along the probability spectrum the answer would probably be "likely"!
Our unit on probability involves lots of fun activities and discussions about ratios, fairness, and variables.
READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS: It's all about the Grandparent Biography project! We are working hard on writing and typing the biographies. Next is planning and practicing the skits that will be created by the students. Some of our students have decided to do a Keynote presentation on their grandparent instead of a skit. If you are wondering what Keynote is, just think of PowerPoint because they are very similar programs. Grandparent Day will be on the morning of June 14 at 10:30. Invitations were sent home on June 1.
The last novel the students will be reading this year is The Fighting Ground. It is a story set in New Jersey during the American Revolution.
